Teaching

Helen O Grady Drama Academy is an international organisation which was founded in Australia in 1979. Since then, classes have been held in numerous locations across the world. The classes follow a curriculum which aims to develop children's confidence and verbal communication skills through drama.

The curriculum is split into three seperate terms. The first two terms focus on building skills such as breathing, projection, pronunciation, facial expressions and movment. In the third term the children rehearse for a production which will be performed in a theatre for parents and family or friends.

"Enthusiasm, energy and a positive approach to life."

"Ongoing confidence"

"Fun & Inspiring Drama classes held in locations across the UK & Worldwide

Helping young people’s development age 5-17."

"Self esteem"

"Effective social interaction"

I have been teaching for Helen O Grady since 2016. I was offered the job as a teacher  after attending the academy from the age of five until the age of seventeen.

The classes can be challenging as it demands a specific persona and a lot of energy to keep the children engaged. There are also a lot of children with different needs enrolled in classes, such as children on the autism spectrum or children who struggle with having low confidence. This means it's important to not only teach the lesson, but too personalise each activity to suit every child and to make sure each child is having fun and feels happy and confident.

Teaching drama has given me valuable skills and a lot of confidence and while it can be difficult it is usually rewarding.
